As Bay Area wedding planners, we love partnering creatively with our clients, who are consistently some of the kindest and smartest humans we’ve ever met. Toko and Jon were no exception. We’re so glad we connected with these two!
While searching for a Black-owned planning company, they found our previous work reimagining a video game for a client’s 2019 wedding. After seeing that celebration, they were confident A Monique Affair was the right choice to plan their “Harry Potter at the Met Gala”-themed wedding. We’re incredibly honored and so proud of how this day came together.

Toko and Jon had two main goals for their wedding: immerse their guests in the world of Harry Potter and keep them comfortable throughout the day. As soon as they described their ideal guest experience, our team knew which venue would be the best fit.
We presented eight venues, saving The Ebell of Los Angeles for the grand finale. Sure enough, they fell in love with it!
The Ebell is one of our favorite Los Angeles wedding venues because of its historic event spaces. We knew the Italian Renaissance architecture would offer the transportive, Old World feel Toko and Jon were looking for. The Ebell is also renowned for its hospitality. With experience hosting star-studded charity events, film screenings, and concerts, they know how to make wedding guests feel like Hollywood royalty.

After booking The Ebell, it was time to assemble the creative partner team. We always guide our couples toward trusted creatives, and we loved seeing how everyone embraced the elevated Harry Potter theme.
Once we shared the moodboard and explained the vibe, we gave everyone creative freedom to put their own spin on it. It was amazing to see what they came up with, from Invitation Design Studio’s elegant, Hogwarts letter-inspired invitations to Once Upon a Florist’s loose, whimsical floral arrangements. But the best part was seeing Toko and Jon’s happiness every time a new detail was unveiled!
If you’re considering The Ebell of Los Angeles for your wedding, keep in mind that setup time is on the shorter side. We’ll communicate this to your creative partners and review design ideas with that timeline in mind. That way, we can ensure the final design is realistic for the available setup time.

We look back on this wedding with immense gratitude. Toko and Jon’s families are just as kind as they are, and they gave our team so much love and appreciation.
Whether you’re planning a wedding in Los Angeles or San Francisco, our team is dedicated to helping you celebrate in a way that reflects your story. Tell us yours—all love is welcome here!
