Your wedding should feel as colorful as your love story, and it all starts with the right venue. As San Francisco wedding planners since 1999, we’ve had the joy of working at some of the region’s most prestigious properties. Our favorite Bay Area wedding venues each offer a different vibe, but they all set the stage for a memorable celebration. Whether your love story feels like a chic night out in Downtown Oakland or a peaceful redwoods retreat, there’s something here for you. Let’s take a look.

Stanly Ranch, an Auberge property, is one of those venues that lets you splurge on décor or keep things beautifully understated. Either way, it’s going to look incredible. The modern yet down-to-earth wine country aesthetic is easy to personalize and make your own. We loved helping A&M bring in colorful florals that felt just as vibrant as their love story. Not to mention, the food, amenities, and staff are all exceptional.
With a range of on-site experiences guests can book in advance, Stanly Ranch also makes a fantastic wedding weekend destination. We recommend suggesting that out-of-town guests fly into Sonoma County Airport. From there, they can stay at the Ranch or choose from several nearby properties in American Canyon, including a few more cost-conscious options.

Looking for a venue that can meet all of your needs for your entire wedding weekend? Olema House is it. You and your VIPs can book the entire inn and settle in for a full weekend of celebration, from the rehearsal dinner to the morning-after brunch. Staying on the same property also creates plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the cozy accommodations between events. We’re big fans of creating a slower, more intentional weekend rhythm so you can truly soak up quality time with your guests.
Olema House is also close to many Marin County attractions, making it easy for guests to explore while you’re getting ready on the wedding morning. Consider organizing a wine tasting or a short coastal hike near Point Reyes for guests to enjoy before the festivities begin.
When couples tell us they love the redwoods, we point them toward the University of California Botanical Garden. While many people know the Garden for its collection of endangered plants and geographic-themed layout, the Mather Redwood Grove & Amphitheater, located across Centennial Drive from the main garden, is one of the most beautiful and intimate outdoor ceremony locations in the Bay Area.
Best suited for weddings with fewer than 70 guests, the space features a semi-circle seating arrangement that literally surrounds you with the love and support of your closest people as you exchange vows. We always recommend checking the forecast carefully and encouraging guests to bring a jacket. It can get chilly beneath the redwoods, even on warmer days.

Constructed in 1929, the Berkeley City Club feels like stepping into another era. From its Gothic-Moorish architecture to its impressive art collection, this venue is perfect for couples planning a celebration that feels timeless and romantic. The variety of event spaces, from the light-filled Terrace to the intimate Member’s Lounge, allows you to tailor the experience to your guest count and overall vision. Our team can help you choose the right fit for your celebration.
Paired with a redwood ceremony at the Botanical Garden, like Rich and Denny’s wedding, a reception at the Berkeley City Club creates the perfect combination of natural beauty and California history. If you’re celebrating in the Venetian Ballroom, we highly recommend hiring a live band to make full use of the incredible stage.

If you’re envisioning a classic Oakland wedding, The Terrace Room is an easy favorite. We love the venue’s Art Deco charm and delicious food, but the real standout is the location. Overlooking Lake Merritt, the venue offers panoramic waterfront views that feel especially magical at sunset. We recommend planning dinner service around golden hour so guests can enjoy the changing colors over the water while you sneak away for a few portraits.
We also suggest hiring a valet service. Street parking can be difficult to find nearby, and eliminating that stress is a thoughtful way to elevate your guests’ experience from the moment they arrive.

Does one of these Bay Area wedding venues feel like the perfect fit for your celebration? We’d love to hear about it! No matter who you are or who you love, our team is here to help you create an event that celebrates your story through curated, colorful details. Share your vision with us, and we’ll take care of the rest.
